Tuzki ツヅキ)

I am Tuzki the most famous bunny in the world

Tuzki is one of the most widely used digital characters in China, with its stickers reportedly sent tens of millions of times per day and its imagery shared well over a billion times across messaging apps, forums, and social media over the years. Created in 2006 by animator Momo Wang, Tuzki started as simple emoticons and evolved into a silent, hyper-expressive bunny whose exaggerated movements convey emotion without words. Its lore is intentionally minimal and abstract, which is the point: Tuzki represents raw internet emotion, modern apathy, chaos, joy, and frustration, making it timeless and endlessly reusable across generations.

Tuzki has no fixed backstory, no dialogue, and no spoken language by design, existing instead as a pure emotional signal born from early internet chat culture. Created in 2006, Tuzki moves through digital spaces reacting to life with exaggerated gestures that mirror frustration, joy, apathy, chaos, and quiet rebellion, becoming a silent stand-in for how people actually feel but rarely say.

Its lore lives in repetition rather than narrative: every looped animation is a moment of modern existence, making Tuzki timeless, endlessly reusable, and universally understood without ever explaining itself.

LORE

Tuzki is often called the “Chinese Pepe the Frog” because both function as emotional primitives of the internet rather than traditional characters. Pepe was created in 2005 and Tuzki followed in 2006, both emerging from early internet culture where reaction images and emoticons mattered more than dialogue or story.

The similarity goes deeper in how they communicate: neither relies on text, both express emotion purely through posture, facial expression, and exaggeration, making them universally legible across language and culture.

Tuzki quietly became one of the most used digital characters on earth through private messaging, which is arguably more powerful. Tuzki dominates private conversations, one shaped internet culture loudly, the other invisibly at massive scale.
